In this crazy and original project, directed by Gerard de Haro, Jean-Sebastien Simonoviez brings together, around him, 4 talented bass players who are internationally famous: Steve Swallow, Riccardo Del Fra, Barre Phillips and Jean-Jacques Avenel.
Each of these 4 Jazz celebrities is invited to share duos with the pianist which sometimes require arrangements made by string quatuor Opus 33.
A brilliant album where the interpretation, the feeling and the profession (obviously different) from all the bass players make you discover along this recording the extreme deepness and sensibility of the pianist.
The album is made of Jean-Sebastien Simonoviez compositions and themes chosen from a refined repertoire.
Duos are punctuated by exceptional arrangements with strings on a Coltrane's piece or even little variable geometric play.
The album ends by a suite in 3 parts inspired by the cosmos and on which every actors of the project is reunited.
